Remembering Jake

It has been a year since we lost our beautiful boy, yet it feels like only yesterday. In the year that has passed, one can say, life here has been different, lacking of some sort. Jake was a huge part of our everyday life. He was full of life and always wanting to please.
I am very aware that after we lost Jake, was when I quit blogging as often. We have lost many pets in the past, and with each passing, we lose a part of our hearts, but with Jake, he took a huge chunk with him.

He gave us so much more then we could have ever expected. I remember holding on when he took his last breath, taking his pain away and making it our own. We still carry that pain with us.
The pain of missing him is just as fresh today as it was one year ago. He is and will always be forever in our hearts.

Words are so inadequate to describe the beauty, intelligence and loyalty of Jake. If you haven't read his tribute you can find it here, or on my side bar.

Tammy, I am crying and crying, my heart breaks for you all over again. Pets are people and missing them is a real as missing your human family.

I'm so sorry. I really am.

Those feelings never go away. I don't think they are supposed to. Otherwise, those who are gone didn't mean a thing. I truly believe though that we will have them again at another time and that they will recognize us.

T, I feel your pain and sense of loss.

It's been just over a year that Wabbit left us, too. I still expect him to be the first face I see in the morning and sometimes it is!

Maybe I'm a kook, but I get subtle hints of his presence and I believe Stumpy does, too.

We'll see them on the other side. I believe that with every fiber of my being.

Yeah, life will never be the same, and different is going to have to work, for now.

Maybe the puppy will fill some of the hole Jake left behind. Not take his place, but well...help to heal your broken heart.

I understand what you are going through....I frequently think of my kitties that have passed on in previous years. Sometimes even looking at the photos is too painful and I just give my four fuzzy monsters a big hug.

Jake looks like he was a beautiful, intelligent dog....You were both blessed with the special time you shared.

"... taking his pain away and making it our own"

How true that is. I've never heard it put like that before, but it's a perfect way to describe what happens.

I'm so sorry you had to lose your beloved friend. As you may remember, I lost two not long before you lost Jake, and yes, it still hurts. Thinking or talking about them still brings tears to my eyes, and that's the legacy the love of a good dog will leave behind him or her.

Wow! a year? Huuu, they say you with time things get better. But I really think With time you grow to accept and grow stronger. A year is not that long.

Take Care my dear friend.

Hey Tammy,

I know what you mean when you say it feels like yesterday that you lost Jake. The sense of loss stays for such a long time. Remember the joy he gave you and your family. He knows that he is missed.

Yep, crying again.
I'm so sorry and I know how you feel. I really do. I can still cry when I think about our lovely labrador Cosy who died years ago. It hurts!
