She Makes Me Stop

I try really hard to make sure I spend one on one time with each of my dogs. Playing and interacting as a group is good too, but I feel they all need that individual time. Sometimes my schedule gets hectic, and there just is not enough hours in the day to get everything done I set out to do that day.
Jessi, although second to the youngest, with Jarie being the youngest, Jessi will always be my baby. She prefers me all to herself. She doesn't like sharing, and really seems to thrive when it is just her and me. Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, 80 degrees out, nice cool breeze, perfect for her and I to just enjoy.
Those of you that have read my blog for awhile, know that Jessi does not stop. Very difficult to take photos, she is a very high drive working line Aussie. Her mouth is always open, tongue hanging out, running from this corner to that corner, sniffing the ground, watching the planes fly over. She doesn't miss a single bird, butterfly, or the wave of a tree branch, always always busy.

Of course the only time her mouth shuts is when she is told to sit, she hates sit, for that just means she has to quit moving, something she just doesn't like to do, but she complies, although you can clearly see it in her face, she wishes *sit* was not a word in my vocabulary.
I have never seen a dog as happy as Jessi. She will play with anything you throw for her, she really doesn't have a favorite toy, as long as she gets to interact with me, whatever toy I choose to toss for her, she is content.
Yesterday was a day that was very much needed, I think for both Jessi and I. She makes me stop. Even for just an hour, she makes me stop and forget about all my worries, all my chores that need to be done, life happenings. Spending time with a dog that is non-stop action, I really have no time to think of anything else but her and the smile on her face, the sparkle in her eyes when she looks up at me, as if she is saying "Life is good, lets play".

Sounds wonderful...I need some of that 'stop' time you talk about. I'm feeling very zen-less lately.

There's nothing like a little play to take your mind off of your worries!

That last picture is so like her! I'm glad you took some time for yourself and Jessi...you both can use it! On a side note, I don't 'sit' well myself. Jack still laughs about the time he told me to just sit down and relax. After about two minutes, I said, "How long do I have to relax?". I'm with Jessi...let's 'omit sit' from our lives!

I see what you mean about high energy. I remember reading how intelligent these Aussies are. Not sure if I could handle a dog with more brainpower than me.

She is gorgeous. I love that "stop" time too. Thanks for asking about River (neighbors dog). I have left several messages for her owners, but they never call back and they are never home. The last two night we have brought her into our house so that she doesn't freeze outside..I don't think the neighbors even notice..pretty pitiful.

Hi T,

Thanks for leaving a comment on my recent post. Animal lovers are drawn to each other, I think, because they share a common bond.

Jessi is so lucky to have you. She is what she is supposed to be - a very active dog. I know you know just how many of these beautiful dogs are dumped at shelters becuase they are "too active". She is beautiful and I can see the smile in her eyes.

Thank you for all you do for the animals.

Hey T...

LOL...what a beauty Jessi is !! One thing I do love about all my critters is that they make me stop and smell the roses a lot...whether it's absentmindedly running my fingers through Babydawg's mane or scratching cat ears. Sometimes we all sit down by the pond on the swing and just listen and BE...

Thanks for stopping by earlier...I had a wonderful rescued dog named Bella that was part Australian Shepherd and part Pit...she was great until she developed a brain tumor and started having seizures. She had been taken back to the shelter 3 TIMES before we got her. We had her about a year and a half when we had to have her put to sleep because she was getting very mean and aggressive with the other dogs. She would chase the UPS trucks that came down our road by running all along the picket fence and spinning inn circles about every 5 feet. It was the craziest thing to watch!

PS--Hello to The Karl, as well....xoxoxoxo9
