Little Miss Annie

It's been a very long time, too long since I have checked in on Blogger. It's time I get my act together and start catching up with everyone. I have so many updates, and am so far behind, I have decided to just post some photos for now, so I can get those all out of the way. So please bare with me over the next few days as I will be posting photos of my crew, to get everyone updated. Then I will be able to concentrate on letting everyone know all the happenings that have been going on in our world.

She is so pretty.

She loves my outside feral cats, and they love her. She has a way about her that attracts all the cats. Cats that are not friendly to me, but love Annie. She is like a cat whisperer!

I have an on going album titled "Annie Goes To School". Weekly I take a few photos of her interacting with the children in my daycare/preschool. I have so many great photos of her, reading with the kids, doing art projects with them, participating in show and tell, unfortunately I only share them on my Facebook page due to privacy issues, but I thought this one would be okay to share with all of you.

Hello My Friends

In case anyone is wondering, yes, I'm still alive! I have been very busy the past 2 months. I had a second surgery on February 14th for my broken shoulder. Any of you that does not know the details, you can read it in my previous posts here and here.

I spend a couple hours 3-4 days a week at Physical therapy. I have a CPM (continuous passive motion) therapy chair here at the house. It helps my range of motion. Per the doctor I need to sit in it for 1 hour, 4 times a day. I have several exercises I need to do at home, every hour of the day that I am awake. My life revolves around physical therapy, I should be getting paid for this!

I have improved quite a bit since the last time I posted. My hand is still numb and tingly all the time, but I have gotten use to the feeling. I am getting plenty of my independence back, and am able to do most things on my own again. I can only lift my arm a bit higher then my waist. I still have days that I get a bit discouraged, wondering if I will ever be able to do things that take two hands to do. I know with the significant nerve damage and all the breaks I encountered, it is just taking time. A slow process. But I will get there, I just have to remind myself these things take time. It has been 3 months since I fell, and the Doctor and Therapist both say I am not even at the half way point of my recovery. I can not wait to be able to do my hair with both hands!

The dogs and cats are all good. We have been busy with all of them, taking advantage of the cool weather. Annie is enjoying agility and obedience. We are going to be introducing her to some sheep in a couple of weeks and hope to start herding lessons with her soon after. That should be fun.

I hope everyone has had a healthy and safe winter, and are enjoying the beginning of Spring.

March 12th, we celebrated Annie's first birthday.

She enjoyed her cake, and especially liked the icing.

I made dozens and dozens of healthy, all natural treats for her many canine friends for her birthday party. Carrot & Oatmeal, Peanut Butter & Banana, and Apple Cinnamon & Oatmeal. They were all a huge hit!

Pretty Little Annie

My baby is growing up. She turned 10 months old today. These top 3 photos are the most recent photos taken in the past 2 weeks. The others are when she was 8 months old.

She has been a true blessing in our home. Hubby tells me all the time when I talk about her I get teary eyed, he is so right. She is having a blast training for agility and obedience. She is ALWAYS happy. She doesn't seem to take life seriously, it all seems to be a game for her.
Everyone Annie meets is her friend, dogs, cats, humans, she loves everyone, and everyone loves her. All of her experiences have been all positive for her. We are hoping to keep it that way. We have taught her many tricks, and continue teaching her something new whenever she offers a new behavior.

One of the most memorable things that has occurred with Annie has been her ability to get Jessi to play. Jessi is 6 years old and is not a doggy dog. She has never played with the other dogs, she just doesn't care to. Jessi prefers to play with people or her toys, but not other dogs. Annie has tried to get Jessi to play with her since she came home to us, but Jessi would just ignore her like she does the other dogs. Then one day about a month ago, Annie play bowed to Jessi, then Jessi returned the favor, and that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Jessi loves Annie just like everyone else does. Annie is our little miracle worker, a true gift.



My apologies for any errors or sloppiness, still typing left handed and having a bit of difficulty today.

It's Been a Long Time

I guess it is about time I stop by blog land and say hello to all my friends.

Unfortunately this is going to be a very short post. I am typing this with one finger on my left hand, and I am right handed, a very difficult and painful thing to do. More about that later.

The dogs are all doing alright, except for Jarie. I mentioned in my last post about the virus all the dogs here caught. Since then, Jarie has gone downhill a bit. She already had a compromised immune system, and we think the virus just set her whole system out of wack. We struggle with getting her to eat, to prevent the vomiting, to prevent the digestive upset, and last but not least, to prevent her from bleeding internally, since she has von Willebrands Disease. Many ear infections, eye infections and sores popping up all at once. The one blessing with all of this is Jarie continues to be the very happy dog she is. I hurt to see what she is going through, and we struggle for answers, to help her the best we can through the knowledgable vets we have and from all the support and help our friends have given us. She is worth fighting for, and we will continue the fight.

I know many of you are wondering about Annie. In our eyes, she is perfect. She is what our house needed. She is doing well in agility and obedience, and her manners are coming along nicely. She is a very confident girl, and to her, everyone, human and animal, are her friend. I will post photos another time.

Now, back to my one finger typing. I fell last week. I dislocated my right shoulder, but not only that, I also broke it in 2 different spots. Gave myself a very nice black eye, as a result of hitting the table when I fell. I have been in a lot of pain, and can't do much for myself. Luckily I have a wonderful husband who not only is doing his job, but caring for me, and taking care of the house chores and all the critters too. I'm scheduled to have surgery this Thursday, and start physical therapy on Friday. I have significant nerve damage in my right arm and hand. The Orthopedic surgeon said some of the feeling will return over several months time, but it won't be the same. As of right now, I have very little feeling in my right hand.

So, not a great update for being away so long, and probably not that pretty to read. I do apologize for the one finger, left handed sloppiness.
